When I'm not staring at a computer screen trying to figure out why my code failed or trying to find novel sources of exogenous variation, I'm either looking up random facts about animals, new recipes to try out, new sketches to draw or new genres of music to obsess over. I love stargazing, and the two most memorable experiences I had in this regard were getting to view the Milky Way spanning across the summer sky for the first time and seeing the comet Neowise with the naked eye on the summer of 2020. I also love animals of all kinds and can talk one's ear off about how adorable (and apparently also extremely vicious) sea otters are.

The most exciting experiences I've had since coming to the US include getting to shake hands (flippers?) with a dolphin at the Indianapolis Zoo as a birthday present, traveling to Banff (Canada) with my boyfriend and tubing down a snow-covered mountain at -26 Celsius, seeing beavers, moose and coyotes for the first time, and jumping out of a perfectly functioning airplane for fun. I went skydiving by myself in the summer of 2019, and it was possibly the most memorable experience of my life so far.

Doing it and thankfully surviving
